It is a beautiful sunny day in Portland. A little chilly but ok, if bundled up, for bike ride. Carl, Pabu and I rode to the library and drug store. We got lots of admiring smiles, waves and one neighbor even called to say "how cute". Anne comes in tonight. We will celebrate her and brother Bob's birthdays tomorrow with Pizza and family. Wish everyone could be here. Be watching for pictures. We even invited Sugar Boots to come.

Today is Santity of Human Life Sunday. Carl and I spent some time with friends and about 7,000 other people at Pioneer Courthouse Square remembering the 5 million babies that have been aborted since the Roe vs Wade decision was handed down in 1973. For thirty five years we have been killing the most defensless of our population. Whew!
This is a picture of the 24 darling first graders that I am substituting for. They are a fun group of eager learners. They provide lots of laughs and are the subject of many interesting stories. Each one in unique. We have been talking this week about various national events such as the inauguration, Martin Luther King Day, and about brave men and women who have made our country great. I showed the kids a picture of one of my personal favorites, my son John. They sat in rapt attention and then wrote him thank you notes. The inventive spelling and sentiments make them especially precious.
The above picture was taken after 4 serious pictures, but this one made me laugh and I thought it might do the same for you.
